Landscaping in Lake Isle: What to Know
Lake Isle sits in Lac Ste. Anne County, northwest of Edmonton, with a ring of summer villages and subdivisions including Silver Sands, South View, Val Quentin, West Cove and Nakamun. The lake is shallow and its level moves from year to year, which is the single most important thing to design around: what is dry ground one summer can be wet the next, and shoreline work needs provincial approval before anything is built on the bed or shore.
Lots are typically cottage-sized on sandy or loamy soil, often with a gentle slope to the water, and many have been landscaped piecemeal over decades. We are usually asked to bring order to that: proper grading so runoff leaves the cabin foundation alone, a stone or block wall to create a level sitting area, a walkway and stairs to the water that are safe when wet, and plantings that hold the bank and need almost no care.
Seasonal use drives the choices. Low-maintenance beds and stone ground cover instead of lawn where you cannot mow weekly, artificial turf for a small usable green space, a fire pit and a simple durable patio for evenings, and lighting on the path down to the lake. Hardy, wind-tolerant shrubs and trees do the heavy lifting in the planting plan.
Lake Isle is within our regular western service area. We plan projects around the lake’s narrow roads and short season, and we bring equipment that fits the lots.
